Hand-dyed with natural ingredients in Italian Alps

In a small atelier nestled in the Italian Alps, we’ve embraced an innovative cold dyeing method for the majority of our textiles. This approach significantly reduces water consumption, using up to five times less water than traditional warm dyeing techniques. By avoiding the need for prolonged heating, we also minimize energy use, allowing yarns and garments to air at room temperature.

Our process is not only efficient but also sustainable—using only natural ingredients like trees, plants, roots, and fruits for our dyes. The dye bath is reusable, and our extended drying time, which can last up to three weeks depending on the weather, leads to stronger color absorption in natural fibers. This results in exceptional performance in sun exposure, friction, and wash fastness tests, meeting the highest ISO Standards.

Additionally, our natural dyes offer benefits beyond aesthetics. They have antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-moth, and anti-UV properties that can even feel soothing on sensitive skin and help with odor control. However, achieving deep black and white tones with natural dyes remains a challenge. For these colors, we employ an eco-friendly dye process that’s more sustainable than conventional methods.

While large-scale production of natural dyes presents challenges due to the long processing times, we believe continued research can help make this sustainable approach more widely adopted and cost-effective for the textile industry.
